Dyson is getting into headphones in the most Dyson Zone way possible: the Zone, a pair of noise-cancelling Bluetooth headphones with built-in air purification technology, thanks to a bizarre-looking magnetic face visor. It’s both the strangest and the most ambitious product the company has ever made.
Dyson Zone may seem like an early April Fools’ joke, but it’s not. Dyson has just launched active noise canceling headphones that surprisingly purify the air, too. It was initially conceptualized as a wearable air purifier in 2016, and the idea of integrated headphones was added later. The headphones are aimed towards urban dwellers as it aims to deal with both air and noise pollution

The Dyson Zone Overview:
Develop
The Dyson Zone may seem like a product born out of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, this is not the case as the company says it has been in development for six years. The company has put 30 years of filtering expertise into creating this product, hoping to provide air filtration not only indoors, but outdoors as well. The Dyson Zone is designed as a portable air purifier only. However, after a year of research, the company began user testing in Beijing, which led to the idea of adding ANC headphones and air purification.

Design
The Dyson team took inspiration from a horse saddle for John’s weight distribution. Like a saddle, the headphones distribute weight on the sides. Dyson divides it into three sections that help distribute weight through “contact zones” for optimal fit. The magnetic visor pushes fresh air into the user’s nose and mouth.
